Nothing indicated this morning what was going to happen. The Wednesday morning of 23rd of February 2022 began for all Ukrainians as a usual day, when men and women were getting late to their jobs, most kids were going to school by overcrowded tube and some students were having some dull lectures at University. That particular morning was the last one for every citizen of Ukraine and everybody who cared about them.
On Thursday at 5 AM the 24th of February 2022 families throughout Ukraine woke up in a cold sweat from the thundering sounds of bombs that were dropped on the country’s airports by the Russian army. A day before, the moment, when some wife was cooking a dinner for her husband and kids, the moment, when some friends were having fun at the party, neither of them would have imagined was the moment, when a crazy-bean creature named Wladimir Putin, hiding in his bunker like some filthy rat, was deciding what Ukrainian mother, husband or daughter was worthy of living and the ones who were not.
The Thursday afternoon, the luckiest Ukrainian civilians spent in the bomb-shelters or basements while others were playing in the game “evade the bullets”, the winners were getting another second of running as a reward, but losers had lost their breath forever. Stunned by the news, relatives and friends from all over the world tried to connect with their loved ones. Some daughter was calling from Poland to her parents who were living in the southeast of Ukraine. When they picked up the phone, all she could listen to were exploding shells along with the trembling voice of the mother, who was saying that neither her or her husband were going down to the basement, because it was pointless. For the daughter those words meant just one thing “This was the last time I was talking to them”.
As far as I can see, the politicians of the whole world cannot stop the mad one with his pet project that granted a right to define the life of approximately 44 million people, can they? Some mother will never take her child to the kindergarten due to the attack on the maternity hospital, some daughter will never receive flowers from her dad, who was shoot away in his car helping other families to flee from the hot spots and some wife will never go to a family trip with her husband, who was murdered for protecting the freedom of his country. The worst part of all of this, it is not a made-up story, it is a truly nightmare for everyone who is experiencing it.
